Thought for the Day: News of of wars, of killings, of hate, is in our faces all day everyday, online, on television, on the radio. It’s mentally exhausting and heartbreaking. I won’t repeat all the awful things I have already seen this morning on the news. Please remember, there is still good in the world. It tends to be a little quieter, a little shyer, but it’s still there if you just take the time to notice.
Here is some good news:
*The barista was able to take a patron’s order in sign language and the hearing-impaired person was able to communicate with the barista and get exactly what she wanted without any language barrier.
*A loving and kind family rescued the abandoned starving dog and gave it a forever home.
*A woman paid for another woman’s groceries at the store when she didn’t have enough money at the checkout. There were tears and a hug for the kind and generous act.
*A child protected another child from bullies and the two became friends thereafter.
*Good samaritans invited everyone to come and eat at a pop-up food stand. They paid for everyone’s meal in addition to making a generous donation to the owners so the owners could make a much-needed profit that night.
*A piano teacher plays the piano for old and abused elephants at an elephant rescue. The elephants sway and speak to the sounds of the piano music.
There is good in the world, there is kindness – you just have to take the time to notice.
My plea to you today is to please take the time to notice the good in the world for your own mental health and please add to that good in the world with kindness and generosity of your own. It’s needed.
Namaste
